Shaheen Saeed has been arrested
Shaheen Saeed, the co-accused in the Delhi blast case, was responsible for creating a network of "terror doctors" according to information shared with NDTV on Friday by sources close to the investigation.
The now-arrested Lucknow resident from Uttar Pradesh organized doctors into teams of five, appointing a leader for each group. Saeed maintained contact only with these team leaders to minimize suspicion, sources revealed.
These team leaders would then communicate with other team members. This restricted communication structure was designed to maintain secrecy and protect other teams in case any member was apprehended, according to the sources.
Investigation agencies are currently working to determine how many such teams Saeed established and identify all recruited individuals.
Sources indicate that Saeed, who practiced medicine at the Faridabad-based Al-Falah University—an institution now central to the Delhi car blast investigation—was also assigned to establish the women's wing of the Pakistan-based terror organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in India.
She reportedly headed the Indian branch of JeM's women's division, Jamaat ul-Mominaat, which is led in Pakistan by Sadia Azhar, sister of JeM founder Masood Azhar.
Saeed and two colleagues—Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie from Pulwama and Adeel Ahmed Rather from Anantnag, both in Jammu and Kashmir—have been arrested for their significant involvement in last Monday's deadly explosion near Red Fort.
The attack claimed 15 lives and left numerous others injured when a Hyundai i20, driven by suicide bomber Umar un Nabi, exploded near the historic Red Fort.
Umar, a Kashmiri physician, was also connected to Al-Falah University.
Hours before the Red Fort explosion, Jammu and Kashmir Police announced they had dismantled an interstate and transnational "white-collar" terror network linked to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, an al-Qaeda-affiliated terror group.
They also reported seizing 2,900 kilograms of explosive materials, including ammonium nitrate, believed to have been used in the Delhi blast.
