Investigative agencies are currently scrutinizing more than 200 doctors and staff members at Al Falah University in Faridabad following the November 10 explosion near Delhi's Red Fort, according to sources.
Security agencies have intensified their presence at the university, conducting frequent checks that have created unease among students and staff. On Wednesday, numerous university employees were observed departing with their belongings loaded into vehicles. University sources indicated these individuals are taking leave to return to their homes.
Authorities are meticulously tracking the number of people who left the university premises after the blast and are working to identify them. Sources suggest investigators suspect several individuals may have connections to terrorist activities.
The investigation has revealed that many people deleted data from their mobile devices, which will become part of the ongoing investigation.
Police are conducting thorough searches of campus hostels and off-campus student accommodations, with over 1,000 individuals already questioned in relation to the case.
A 35-year-old Anganwadi worker who rented accommodation to suicide bomber Dr. Umar Un Nabi in Hidayat Colony, Nuh, has been detained. The woman had been evading authorities since the Delhi bombing. Her family is also under investigation, and seven additional individuals in Nuh have been questioned regarding their connections to Umar. Reports indicate the suicide bomber utilized multiple mobile phones while residing at the Nuh rental property.
Since Al Falah Medical College's alleged terrorism connections emerged following the Red Fort Metro station blast, the hospital has experienced a significant decline in patient numbers. Hospital sources revealed that daily outpatient department visits have dropped from approximately 200 to fewer than 100 patients.
Investigators are examining whether Umar had a handler within the university, as he reportedly received "special treatment" at the institution.
Two doctors currently completing apprenticeships after graduating from the university stated that Umar was absent from both hospital and university for nearly six months in 2023 without approved leave or notification. Remarkably, he resumed his duties upon return without facing any disciplinary action.
They further revealed that Umar's teaching responsibilities were unusually light, delivering only one or two brief lectures weekly, lasting just 15-20 minutes before returning to his room. This reportedly caused dissatisfaction among other lecturers who maintained full teaching schedules.
The doctors also disclosed that Umar was consistently assigned evening or night hospital shifts, never morning duties.
Multiple investigative teams are now operating at Al Falah University, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Delhi Police Special Cell, Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS), Faridabad Crime Branch, and Jammu and Kashmir Police, with regular visits to the campus. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) also arrived at the university on Tuesday. These investigative teams have established a temporary command center within the university premises.
