The man and his three accomplices fatally shot his sister.
Chandigarh:
Police reported on Friday that a man who allegedly murdered his sister in Haryana's Rohtak for marrying against their family's wishes has been arrested along with three other individuals.
Officials stated that the accused, Sanju, was planning to kill his sister's husband next but was apprehended in Rohtak on Thursday before he could carry out his plan.
On Wednesday evening, Sanju, accompanied by three accomplices, fatally shot his 23-year-old sister Sapna at her residence in Rohtak's Kahani village. The murder was motivated by Sapna's decision to marry Suraj, an autorickshaw driver, over two years ago against family wishes.
While Suraj was absent from home during the incident, his brother Sahil sustained injuries in the attack.
After receiving intelligence that Sanju intended to murder Suraj next, authorities established a checkpoint and intercepted the accused on Ladot-Bohar road in Rohtak. When confronted by police, the accused individuals opened fire on the police team.
The police responded in self-defense. During the exchange of gunfire, all four accused sustained bullet wounds and are currently receiving medical treatment at PGIMS Hospital in Rohtak.
Police have identified the other three accused as Rahul from Kahani village, and Ankit and Gaurav from Sonipat district. According to police records, none of the four accused has a previous criminal history.
Authorities recovered two .30 bore pistols, two country-made firearms, ten live cartridges, ten blank cartridges, two magazines, and a motorcycle from the accused individuals.
After their marriage, Sapna and Suraj had initially moved away from Kahani village but later returned to the community.
