International Javelin Star Annu Rani and Kickboxer Husband Face Legal Charges for Wedding Celebratory Gunfire

Police have registered a case against international javelin athlete Annu Rani and her husband, national kickboxing champion Sahil Bhardwaj, after footage emerged showing them firing celebratory shots during their wedding ceremony. The video quickly gained traction across social media platforms.

"We have filed an FIR against Annu Rani and Sahil under provisions of the Arms Act and commenced an investigation into the matter," confirmed Sardhana Station House Officer Dinesh Pratap Singh in a statement to PTI.

The officer noted that the viral footage clearly depicts the couple participating in celebratory gunfire during their wedding festivities.

According to law enforcement officials, the incident occurred during a marriage ceremony in Sardhana. The couple allegedly discharged a double-barreled firearm during the traditional jaimala (garland exchange) ritual.

The circulating video reportedly shows both the bride and groom, Annu Rani and Sahil, firing shots from the wedding stage, according to police sources.

Singh further stated that authorities are conducting technical verification of the video footage and examining details regarding the firearm used in the incident.

Rani hails from Bahadarpur village in Meerut and has represented India in javelin throw at international competitions, while her husband Sahil Bhardwaj from Rohtak has achieved recognition as a national kickboxing champion.

Local sources reported that the wedding procession arrived at approximately 8 pm on Tuesday, with the alleged firearms discharge taking place on stage during the jaimala ceremony.

Officials confirmed that several prominent community members were in attendance at the wedding celebration.
