"True leadership involves creating new leaders from those around you," emphasized Ms Mahajan during her address.

BJP leader and former MP Poonam Mahajan has asserted that India's youth, as global citizens, will play a decisive role in shaping the world's future.

Speaking at the NDTV Yuva Conclave on Saturday, Ms Mahajan expressed confidence that young people are not hesitant about entering politics, adding that exceptional leaders distinguish themselves by nurturing leadership in others.

During the session titled 'Rebooting Rajneeti, Why The Yuva Matter', the two-term former MP from Mumbai North Central stated, "India is fundamentally an aspirational nation. The youth of India will determine the world's future trajectory. We identify not just as Indian citizens but as global citizens. India's youth will make such significant contributions that the international community will take notice. Generation Z will guide India forward, and I have complete confidence in their abilities. They are successfully aligning personal aspirations with national goals."

When asked about her most significant 'ham karke dikhayenge' (we'll show by doing) moment, Ms Mahajan highlighted her electoral victory in Mumbai North Central.

"When I first contested there in 2014, many claimed it was an impenetrable Congress stronghold. We succeeded nonetheless because youth consistently rise to challenges. With my background as a pilot, I often say takeoffs invariably face headwinds. Young people value challenges enormously. I believe the 2014 election was transformative, and voters showed me tremendous support," she reflected.

Ms Mahajan, who previously served as president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha - BJP's youth wing - maintained that young people embrace political participation, noting that many from the organization have subsequently assumed important positions.

"A leader who merely seeks followers cannot progress. To achieve greater impact, leaders must cultivate leadership qualities in those around them. Every established leader should focus on developing new youth leadership," she emphasized.

Addressing a question about her relationship with the Thackeray family, the BJP leader clarified that while political differences exist, family connections remain intact.

"In politics, we maintain ideological distinctions. We aren't enemies. Our party performs better because we stay connected with people. While they face certain challenges, I continue to extend familial affection to them," she shared.
