Heroic OSRTC Bus Driver Suffers Fatal Heart Attack While Ensuring Passenger Safety in Odisha

An Odisha State Road Transport Corporation bus driver, P Sai Krishna, suffered a fatal heart attack while driving but managed to safely stop the vehicle with over 30 passengers on board. The 44-year-old driver ensured passenger safety on the Koraput-Sunabeda route before succumbing to the cardiac event, demonstrating exceptional professionalism in his final moments.

Odisha Driver Suffers Heart Attack While Driving Bus, Stops Safely, Dies

The bus was traveling from Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh to Malkangiri as part of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) service when tragedy struck on Thursday.

P Sai Krishna, a 44-year-old bus driver, experienced a heart attack while driving on the Koraput-Sunabeda route. Despite suffering severe chest pain, Krishna demonstrated remarkable presence of mind by safely bringing the vehicle to a halt, ensuring the safety of more than 30 passengers on board.

According to police reports, the heart attack occurred near Dumuriput on the Koraput-Sunabeda stretch. Krishna was quickly transported to SLN Medical College and Hospital in Koraput, where medical professionals unfortunately declared him deceased upon arrival.

An OSRTC representative confirmed that following the incident, the co-driver assumed control of the bus and safely completed the journey to Malkangiri with all passengers.

Krishna was stationed at the OSRTC Vizianagaram depot and leaves behind a wife and two sons.
