Two alleged members of the notorious 'tala-chaabi' gang have been apprehended in connection with a Rs 1.5 crore burglary case in Delhi's Shahdara district, authorities announced on Wednesday. This criminal organization is known for its members posing as key-makers while scouting homes that remain unoccupied for extended periods before executing break-ins.

The burglary was reported on September 12, involving the theft of nearly one kilogram of gold, 11 kg of silver jewellery, numerous diamond ornaments, and other valuable items from Krishna Nagar resident Manna Lal Surana's residence.

According to reports, the complainant returned home at approximately 1:15 pm to discover the locks of the main gate, interior doors, and storage cabinets had been broken, with the entire house ransacked.

Following the report, authorities registered a case and conducted an extensive investigation. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Parshant Gautam stated that more than 2,500 CCTV cameras from Delhi to Indore were examined, and records of burglars with similar operational patterns were analyzed.

Through technical surveillance, questioning of family members, and ground intelligence, investigators were able to identify the suspects. Two individuals, identified as Samrat Singh (30) from Vadodara and Samit alias Sumit Singh (22) from Indore, were subsequently arrested.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly revealed that they belonged to an organized 'tala-chaabi' burglary syndicate operating throughout the Madhya Pradesh-Gujarat-Maharashtra region. Gang members disguise themselves as key-makers during daylight hours while surveying houses that have been unoccupied for several days, before breaking in during nighttime.

The police disclosed that these criminals typically travel to Delhi by train, lodge in budget accommodations near railway stations, steal motorcycles for transportation, and quickly move across state borders after committing multiple burglaries.

According to investigators, the two suspects arrived in Delhi with two accomplices, conducted reconnaissance in Shahdara localities, stole a motorcycle from the Man Sarovar Park area, and targeted the Krishna Nagar residence during the night of September 11-12. Following the burglary, they abandoned the motorcycle, stole another one to avoid tracking, and fled Delhi.

Law enforcement officials recovered approximately 150 grams of gold jewellery, 3 kg of silver, a white SUV allegedly purchased using the stolen proceeds, and a stolen motorcycle used during the crime. Both accused reportedly have numerous previous involvements in burglary and theft cases throughout Delhi.

The investigation continues as authorities work to locate additional gang members and recover the remaining stolen property.
