Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella To Begin 3-Day India Visit On December 10

Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella is scheduled to commence a three-day visit to India starting December 10. The India-born executive will travel across Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai during his tour, with expected meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and other key government officials.

Nadella's itinerary begins in Delhi on December 10, followed by Bengaluru on December 11, and concludes in Mumbai on December 12. This visit represents one of his several trips to India in recent years as Microsoft continues to strengthen its footprint and enhance its position in India's rapidly growing cloud and artificial intelligence services market.

During his previous visit in January this year, Nadella announced a substantial $3 billion investment directed toward building cloud and AI infrastructure in India and supporting skills development programs.

At that time, he emphasized that India was emerging as a global leader in AI innovation and expressed Microsoft's commitment to helping the country become "AI-first." The company also pledged to train an additional 10 million Indians in essential AI skills by 2030.

Microsoft has already exceeded its 2025 target by training 2.4 million people within a year, with most participants coming from Tier-II and Tier-III cities, and women constituting 65 percent of the trainees.

Meanwhile, competitor Google has also announced significant investments in India, committing $15 billion to establish a cutting-edge AI hub in Visakhapatnam.

In preparation for Nadella's upcoming visit, Commerce and Industries Minister Piyush Goyal met with Lisa Monaco, President of Microsoft Global Affairs, on Tuesday.

Following their discussion, Goyal shared on X that the meeting focused on Microsoft's ongoing engagement in India and its support for AI-driven innovation and infrastructure development.

He further noted that both parties explored avenues to strengthen the India-US partnership in artificial intelligence, digital trade, and workforce skills development to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth.
