"It appears to be a contract killing. Getting detailed information is crucial," stated Zeeshan.
As Anmol Bishnoi, a primary suspect in former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique's murder, prepares to arrive in India, NCP leader and former MLA Zeeshan Siddique emphasized the necessity of bringing the gangster to Mumbai for interrogation to uncover the true mastermind behind the crime.
Baba Siddique, also an NCP member, was fatally shot outside his son Zeeshan's office in Mumbai's Bandra on October 12 last year. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, led by Anmol's brother, claimed responsibility for the killing, with police naming Anmol as the main conspirator in their chargesheet. Anmol is additionally wanted in connection with singer Sidhu Moosewala's 2022 murder and the April 2024 shooting incident outside Salman Khan's Mumbai residence.
Authorities arrested Anmol in the United States in November last year, reportedly for illegal entry. Sources indicate he is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi at approximately 10 am on Wednesday.
In a Tuesday evening interview with NDTV, Zeeshan Siddique revealed he had been consistently following up with US authorities regarding Anmol for months, explaining that the gangster was wanted for his father's murder.
"Today we received mail from them stating Anmol Bishnoi is no longer in their custody and the federal government is removing him from the country. After receiving this information, I immediately notified Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and other relevant authorities," he explained.
When questioned about the possibility of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), rather than Mumbai Police, taking custody of the gangster upon arrival, Siddique mentioned he had requested the Maharashtra chief minister and others to ensure Anmol would also be brought to Mumbai for questioning.
"I'm confident he will be brought to Mumbai as well. There was no connection between Anmol Bishnoi and my father. Since Anmol Bishnoi committed this act and Mumbai police have named him, it's essential we discover who masterminded the murder. I believe once he returns to Indian soil, our legal system will deliver justice," he stated.
Siddique highlighted that there had been no hostility between his father and Anmol, suggesting someone must have directed the gangster to execute the murder.
"This clearly appears to be a contract killing. Obtaining all details is absolutely essential. For society's collective safety, it's crucial we uncover this information," he elaborated.
Regarding prevention of such murders, Siddique suggested, "We need improved intelligence and interrogation systems. Rather than discussing future measures, we should make this case exemplary. We should have brought him back earlier, but better late than never."
"Now that he's returning to India, we mustn't waste additional time. We need to identify who orchestrated this. That will set a precedent for the entire country, deterring others from committing such brutal murders and devastating families in an instant," he concluded.
