Viral videos showcase a car vertically lodged between two sections of an under-construction bridge.
Kannur:
A Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire became suspended between two sections of an under-construction bridge in Kerala's Kannur district on Sunday when the intoxicated driver drove onto the incomplete flyover.
The viral footage reveals the vehicle trapped vertically between the bridge segments, with onlookers gathered below. The incident occurred at the national highway construction site at Kannur Chala intersection.
Authorities have registered a case against the driver, identified as Lasim from Kerala's Malappuram district. Local residents rescued Lasim, who fortunately escaped the ordeal without sustaining serious injuries.
One circulating social media video documents the rescue operation, showing a crane extracting the vehicle from the gap where it had become wedged.
In a similar incident last month, footage of a crane retrieving a red Mercedes sedan stranded in the sand at Surat's Dumas Beach went viral online.
Despite strict prohibitions against vehicles on Dumas Beach, an individual drove his luxury Mercedes onto the shoreline, reportedly to create social media content. The vehicle subsequently became trapped in the soft sand, necessitating a crane for extraction.
The rescue videos sparked considerable outrage online, prompting Surat Police to detain the driver and commence legal action.
