Doctors Used Food Code Words on Telegram to Plan Delhi Car Bombing That Killed 13

Security agencies uncovered a terror plot orchestrated by four doctors who used encrypted Telegram messages with food-related code words to plan the Delhi suicide car bombing. The "white collar" terror cell, radicalized by Imam Irfan Ahmad from Kashmir, communicated using "biryani" for explosives and "daawat" for planned attacks. Their medical licenses have been revoked as investigations continue into their connections with Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad.

New Delhi:

The white collar terror module dismantled by security agencies in Haryana's Faridabad utilized the secure messaging app Telegram to orchestrate terror plans using food-related code words to avoid detection, sources revealed.

The four doctors - whose medical licenses have now been revoked - engaged in conversations about meals on Telegram, which were actually coded discussions about deadly operations, not food.

The terror cell comprising Muzamil Shakeel, Uma Un Nabi, Shaheen Saeed and Adeel Ahmad Rather employed code words such as "biryani" and "daawat" to communicate their terror strategies through the end-to-end encrypted Telegram platform, sources disclosed.

"Biryani" was code for explosive materials, while "daawat" indicated a specific planned attack, sources explained.

Investigators revealed that after preparing explosives for attacks in crowded locations, they exchanged a message on Telegram stating: "Biryani is ready, get ready for daawat."

The architect behind this white collar terror network has been identified as Imam Irfan Ahmad from Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir. He allegedly radicalized the doctors and guided them toward terrorism, sources indicated.

Irfan Ahmad encountered Nabi, who later became the suicide bomber in the Chandni Chowk attack, at a Srinagar hospital in 2020 while seeking treatment for his child. They exchanged contact information, and Ahmad continued visiting Nabi for his son's follow-up care, sources mentioned.

Fully radicalized by Ahmad, Nabi was tasked with establishing the white collar terror module designed to operate without raising suspicions. Nabi identified other doctors with "potential" and introduced them to Ahmad, who continuously shared extremist ideologies via Telegram.

A critical development occurred when the group met with terrorists from Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad in south Kashmir, a meeting arranged by Ahmad, sources confirmed.

The doctors subsequently received two AK series assault rifles from the terrorists. Both weapons have been recovered, including one from a vehicle used by Shaheen Saeed.

Sources reported that Saeed informed investigators she connected with the other doctors six months before the blast near Red Fort, and allegedly claimed ignorance about the group's intentions.

These doctors' credentials have been removed from both the Indian Medical Register (IMR) and National Medical Register (NMR), effectively terminating their ability to practice medicine or identify themselves as doctors in India.

The NIA recently apprehended another terror suspect, Amir Rashid Ali, in Delhi. Ali purchased the Hyundai i20 that Nabi used as a car bomb and assisted in preparing the improvised explosive device (IED), sources stated.

Al Falah University in Faridabad, where all the white collar terror suspects were employed, is under comprehensive investigation covering financial and administrative aspects. The NIA has also confiscated a vehicle registered to the suicide bomber.
