Tragic Medina Bus Accident Claims Lives of Indian Pilgrims: PM Modi Offers Condolences

A tragic bus accident in Saudi Arabia's Medina has resulted in the deaths of numerous Indian Umrah pilgrims, with 42 Indians reported to be on the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his profound sorrow on Monday regarding the devastating crash, which reportedly involved a collision between the bus and an oil tanker at approximately 1:30 am (IST).
The majority of the passengers were from Telangana, according to reports from the scene.
"Deeply saddened by the accident in Medina involving Indian nationals. My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones," Prime Minister Modi stated in his message on X platform.
He added, "I pray for the swift recovery of all those injured."
The Prime Minister further assured that the Indian embassy in Riyadh and Consulate in Jeddah are providing comprehensive assistance to affected families and maintaining close communication with Saudi Arabian authorities regarding the incident.
Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also shared his condolences on social media, stating he was "shocked and deeply saddened" by the tragic bus collision on the Medina-Mecca highway that claimed the lives of Indian pilgrims.
"My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families," Minister Rijiju expressed in his post on X.
