Al Falah University To Red Fort: 40 Cameras Captured Car Used In Delhi Blast

The investigators have meticulously reconstructed the journey of the prime suspect in the Delhi blast case through footage from 40 surveillance cameras.

New Delhi:

From Al Falah University to India Gate, Connaught Place, Lodhi Road, and finally the parking near Red Fort - these were among numerous locations visited by Umar Nabi, the prime suspect in the Delhi blast case, between October 29 and November 10 before the explosion occurred in the crowded Chandni Chowk area. Investigators have utilized footage from 40 cameras to reconstruct the suspect's entire route since he entered the university on October 29. The institution has been under close scrutiny by investigative agencies after multiple doctors involved in a terror module were found to have connections with it.

The comprehensive reconstruction includes every checkpoint crossed, all parking entries, and each location visited or where stops were made.

Through the extensive footage analysis, police discovered that the Hyundai i20 - the vehicle used in the blast - traveled through several sensitive and VVIP areas in the national capital both before and on the day of the explosion.

The surveillance footage revealed that Umar Nabi drove the car to Kartavya Path and Shahjahan Road, merely five to ten minutes away from the Prime Minister's residence in Lok Kalyan Marg. The vehicle was also captured near Rail Bhawan - the Indian Railways headquarters - at Raisina Road, and Connaught Place.

The footage, reportedly spanning from October 29 to November 10 (the blast day), showed the car's journey from Haryana's Faridabad to Nuh and then to various Delhi locations.

Other areas where CCTV cameras captured the car included Mayur Vihar, Chilla Village, Ashram Chowk, Nizamuddin, Kartavya Path, Sunhari Bagh, Tughlaq Road, Lodhi Road, Aurobindo Marg, Ramlila Maidan, Delhi Gate, and Daryaganj.

The car was also recorded at Haryana's Khalilpur toll at 12:46 am during the night between November 9 and 10.

On October 29 night, Nabi drove the car into Al Falah University. The following afternoon, he summoned a mechanic and compounder to the parking area.

Shortly thereafter, the i20 departed from university grounds.

On the explosion day, the car was spotted near Mayur Vihar around 8:45 am. Nabi then proceeded to a CNG pump near Chilla village.

The vehicle was observed near Ashram Chowk around 9 am. Within a brief period, it appeared around Nizamuddin, India Gate, Railway Bhavan, and Connaught Place's outer circle.

Subsequently, the car was detected near Turkman Gate at approximately 2:15 pm, before moving toward Ramlila Maidan and Delhi Gate.

At around 3:30 pm, he parked in the lot near Red Fort. He departed at 6:42 pm, just minutes before the explosion occurred near a traffic signal on a congested road.

Police are also working to trace dozens of vehicles parked near the i20 in the hours preceding the blast.

They are developing a detailed log of every vehicle that entered the Sunehri Masjid parking area during that three-hour window. This includes registration details, entry-exit times, driver identities, and vehicle ownership information.
