Rohini Acharya's Public Fallout with Brother Tejashwi Yadav: Inside the RJD Family Drama After Bihar Elections

Following the RJD's defeat in Bihar elections, a major family conflict has erupted publicly between Lalu Prasad Yadav's children. Rohini Acharya, who previously donated a kidney to her father, has made serious allegations against her brother Tejashwi Yadav, claiming she was humiliated and symbolically "thrown out" of the family. While maintaining support from her parents and sisters, this dispute reveals deeper tensions within one of Bihar's most influential political families.

Rohini Acharya stated that her parents and sisters are supporting her during this family conflict.

New Delhi:

Rohini Acharya, the second among Lalu Prasad Yadav's nine children, who previously donated a kidney to save the RJD patriarch's life, has become the central figure in a family drama that is unfolding publicly.

A day after declaring she was disowning her family and hours following her shocking allegations against her brother Tejashwi Yadav, she was observed departing from her elder sister Misa Bharti's Delhi residence.

With tears streaming down her face and speaking in a hoarse voice, she responded to reporters' inquiries about her accusations by saying: "Rohini always tells the truth". She clarified that she hasn't abandoned her entire family, emphasizing that she has only severed ties with her brother.

When pressed further about the family conflict, she redirected, saying, "Ask these questions to Tejashwi Yadav and those behind the fallout, ask Sanjay Yadav, Rachel Yadav (Tejashwi Yadav's wife) and Rameez."

She has alleged that Tejashwi Yadav and his close associates, Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Nemat Khan, have "thrown her out of the family".

Rohini Acharya additionally confirmed that her parents and sisters continue to stand by her.

"My father has always been by my side. My parents and my sisters were crying for me yesterday. I am blessed to have parents like them," Acharya told reporters.

Targeting Tejashwi Yadav, whom she suggested "humiliated" her and allegedly raised a slipper at her, the 47-year-old stated, "I have only cut ties with my brother. My sisters and my parents support me. I am in constant touch with my father".

"Why is it that only daughters are expected to make sacrifices, especially when there are brothers? When daughters ask questions, they are asked to go to their in-laws' house," she remarked.

Sources indicate that Tejashwi Yadav had an intense confrontation with his sister after blaming her for the RJD's defeat in the Bihar assembly elections.

On Friday, the ruling NDA overwhelmed the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan to maintain power, securing a decisive "200 paar" victory with 202 seats in the 243-member Bihar assembly. The RJD's representation fell dramatically to 25 seats from 75 in the previous assembly elections.

Yesterday, Rohini Acharya, who unsuccessfully contested the Saran Lok Sabha seat in last year's general elections, announced her resignation from the party while attributing the RJD's electoral failure to Sanjay Yadav and Rameez.

This was followed by a series of unexpected social media posts containing shocking allegations. "Yesterday, I was cursed at and told that I am dirty, and that I got my father to have my dirty kidney transplanted into him, took crores of rupees, bought a ticket, and then got that dirty kidney put in". She donated a kidney to her father in 2022.

Alluding to the bitter dispute with her brother, she stated, "To all the married women, I will say that when there's a son in your maternal home, never, ever save your God-like father; instead, tell your brother, the son of that house, to get his own kidney or that of one of his Haryanvi friends transplanted."

"All sisters and daughters should look after their own homes and families, take care of their children and their in-laws' household without caring for their parents, think only about themselves," she added.

Acharya is now heading to Mumbai to her in-laws' residence. "My mother-in-law is concerned and has been crying since yesterday," she explained.

This is not the first major controversy to affect the Yadav family. On May 25, Tej Pratap Yadav was removed "from the party and the family". This action followed a post on Tej Pratap's social media page claiming he was "in a relationship for 12 years". The post was deleted several hours later, and he subsequently claimed on X that his Facebook account had been compromised.

The post received criticism as it raised questions about why he married former Bihar Minister Chandrika Rai's daughter Aishwarya in 2018 if he was already involved in a relationship.

Tej Pratap Yadav has responded strongly to the alleged "insult" of his sister, declaring that the people of Bihar will not accept such injustice to their daughter, and the traitors (referring to Jaichands) will be expelled from the party.

In an extensive post on his party's Instagram account, Janshakti Janta Dal (JJD), he stated, "Yesterday's incident has shaken me to the core. I tolerated what happened to me, but the insult inflicted on my sister is unbearable under any circumstances. If you attack the family, the people of Bihar will never forgive you."

"Ever since I heard the news of my sister Rohini being attacked with slippers, the hurt in my heart has turned into fire. When public sentiments are hurt, the dust on the intellect is blown away. These few faces have clouded even Tejashwi's intellect," he concluded.
