Compressed natural gas (CNG) prices have increased effective Sunday, November 16, according to Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), a major natural gas distribution company. NDTV Profit reports that the price adjustment impacts several major cities with an average increase of Rs 1 per kg across Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Kanpur.
The revised rates will take effect from 6:00 AM on November 16, 2025.
The updated city-wise CNG prices are as follows: Kanpur GA rates have increased from Rs 87.92 per kg to Rs 88.92 per kg; Noida & Greater Noida GA prices have risen from Rs 84.70 per kg to Rs 85.70 per kg; and Ghaziabad GA (excluding Hapur) rates have moved from Rs 84.70 per kg to Rs 85.70 per kg.
This price increase may result in higher transportation costs for buses, auto-rickshaws, and taxis, potentially affecting passenger fares as companies cite increasing gas procurement expenses as the reason for the adjustment.
According to reports, IGL has attributed the price revision to fluctuations in natural gas procurement costs and the need to maintain operational stability.
While various unconfirmed claims have been circulating on social media platforms, the price changes currently apply only to the cities mentioned above. Customers are encouraged to visit the official IGL website for the most accurate and updated information.
In separate news, IGL has recently announced its first international venture through a strategic alliance agreement with MASAH Construction Company of Saudi Arabia. This partnership aims to jointly explore opportunities for developing and operating natural gas distribution networks within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The agreement was formally signed in the presence of H.E. Mr. Khaled Al Khattaf, CEO of Saudi Investment Promotion Authority (SIPA), Mr. Waleed H. Al Orainan, Secretary General of the Federation of Saudi Chambers, Mr. Raj Kumar Dubey, Chairman of IGL, Mr. Kamal Kishore Chatiwal, Managing Director of IGL, and other senior officials. The signing parties were Mr. Mohit Bhatia, Director (Commercial) for IGL, and Mr. Mohammed Abdul Nayeem, Chairman of MASAH Construction Company.
IGL described this as a "landmark partnership" that represents the company's first international venture, aligning with its long-term vision to expand globally while promoting sustainable and cleaner energy solutions.
