Kolkata:
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee has ignited controversy by alleging that West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose was supplying arms and ammunition to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders within the Raj Bhavan.
During his statement on Saturday, Banerjee urged Governor Bose to cease providing shelter to what he termed as criminals (referring to BJP leaders) and stop supplying them with weapons allegedly meant to harm TMC workers.
"West Bengal will never witness positive developments as long as an incompetent, BJP-servant governor like you remains in office," Banerjee further stated.
"Trinamool MP's Allegation Is Irresponsible"
Responding to these accusations on Sunday, Governor Bose characterized Banerjee's allegations as "inflammatory, explosive, and irresponsible." The Governor demanded an apology from the Trinamool leader and indicated that legal proceedings would be initiated against him.
"When a ruling party MP claims that arms and ammunition are present inside the Raj Bhavan, is he expressing a lack of confidence in the state's police force?" Bose questioned.

He further announced that the Raj Bhavan has remained accessible since early morning for Banerjee, the public, and media personnel to inspect and verify any alleged stockpiling of weapons on the premises. "Several individuals have already visited, and others continue to arrive. They can personally verify everything," the governor added.
Meanwhile, the Raj Bhavan office has formally demanded an apology from Banerjee.
"Given that Kolkata Police provides security for the Raj Bhavan, how could weapons be stored within its boundaries? The Raj Bhavan has also called for an immediate investigation into the matter, as Kalyan Banerjee's claims suggest a potential breach in the security of the governor, who receives 'Z plus' category protection," stated the office.
"Banerjee Has Lost His Mental Balance"
The BJP strongly condemned Kalyan Banerjee's statements.
BJP MP Jaganath Sarkar claimed that Banerjee has experienced a mental breakdown. "As a Parliament member, he should face consequences for such remarks," Sarkar insisted.
Meanwhile, BJP's Agnimitra Paul stated, "If weapons are discovered inside the Raj Bhavan, it indicates that the TMC MP (Kalyan Banerjee) is actually criticizing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The Raj Bhawan's security is maintained by Kolkata Police, which operates under your (Mamata Banerjee's) administration."
Intensifying her criticism of Kalyan Banerjee, Paul added, "You disrespect both the Constitution and women."
"You fail to respect even women from your own party," the BJP leader further remarked, alluding to Kalyan Banerjee's previous comments about his party colleague Mahua Moitra.
