Bengaluru Police Bust Major Fake Microsoft Support Scam Targeting US Citizens: 21 Arrested in Raid

Bengaluru:

On Saturday, Bengaluru Police dismantled a sophisticated cyber-fraud operation that had been targeting US citizens by impersonating Microsoft Technical Support representatives. The operation was executed jointly by the Special Cell of the Cyber Command and the Whitefield Division's Cyber Crime Police.

Authorities targeted MUSK COMMUNICATIONS, a fraudulent enterprise that had initiated operations in August. The company utilized approximately 4,500 square feet of space to run a comprehensive scam center.

During the raid, police arrested 21 employees who were directly involved in the scheme, posing as Microsoft support technicians to defraud foreign nationals.

Based on reliable intelligence, authorities filed charges under Sections 66 and 66(C) of the Information Technology Act, 2000, as well as Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The police operation spanned Friday and Saturday, conducted with a court-authorized search warrant. Law enforcement officers confiscated numerous computers, digital devices, mobile phones, and additional electronic evidence connected to the fraudulent activities.

Investigations continue as authorities work to locate remaining suspects and analyze the seized digital materials.
