Bihar has achieved its highest voter participation since 1951, with over 66 percent turnout recorded across the two-phase elections held on November 6 and 11.

According to sources, Bihar's new government is expected to take shape between November 19-20, with administrative processes accelerating following the official notification to establish the 18th Bihar Assembly.

The Election Commission will present the final electoral results to Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, which will automatically terminate the Model Code of Conduct that was in effect during elections.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has scheduled a cabinet meeting for tomorrow, where the dissolution of the current 17th Assembly is anticipated to be formally approved. After this resolution passes, Kumar will tender his resignation to Governor Khan, facilitating the next steps in government formation.

Once Kumar steps down, the NDA constituent parties will convene their respective legislature party meetings to select the alliance's leader, who will subsequently claim the right to form the new government.

Extensive preparations are currently underway at Patna's Gandhi Maidan for what is expected to be a grand swearing-in ceremony. This event will simultaneously serve as a major demonstration of the NDA's political strength, featuring numerous prominent leaders.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the ceremony alongside Union Ministers, Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from all NDA-governed states, and senior alliance leaders. The final date—either November 19 or 20—will be confirmed once the Prime Minister's schedule is finalized.

The NDA is organizing this high-profile display of unity and political influence ahead of the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections, as Bihar prepares to welcome its new administration.

In the recent elections, the NDA secured a commanding victory with 202 seats in the 243-member assembly. The BJP won 89 seats, while JDU captured 85. Union Minister Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) gained 19 seats, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha secured five, and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha won four.

The RJD-led opposition alliance, Mahagathbandhan, managed only 35 seats total. The RJD itself won just 25 seats, marking its second-worst electoral performance in Bihar since 2010. The Congress secured six seats, significantly down from its previous 19, while the CPI(ML)L won two seats, the CPI(M) one seat, and the CPI none.

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM captured five seats, while Mukesh Sahani's Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) failed to secure any representation.
