Following the Chief Minister's instructions, Jammu and Kashmir Health Minister Sakina Itoo personally visited several bereaved families who lost loved ones in the accidental blast at Nowgam Police Station to offer condolences and support.

"She later visited the hospital to inquire about the injured and assured them that the government stands firmly with the affected families in this hour of grief," Abdullah further noted.

The devastating explosion that occurred at Nowgam police station in Srinagar claimed nine lives and left 32 others injured. Senior officials have emphasized that the incident was accidental in nature and not a terrorist attack.

According to the investigation, the explosion took place at approximately 11:20 pm on Friday when a specialized team was working to extract samples from a large and unstable collection of explosives. These materials had been previously confiscated as part of an ongoing investigation into a 'white-collar' terror module.

Officials confirmed that the majority of the explosive materials had been stored securely in an open area within the premises of the Nowgam police station prior to the accident.
