Bear Attacks 60-Year-Old Tea Worker in Tamil Nadu's Nilgiris: Forest Officials Respond

A 60-year-old Nepalese woman was attacked by a bear while working at a tea estate in Kothagiri, Nilgiris. Forest officials have promised medical expense coverage and compensation while working to locate and relocate the bear back to the forest. The woman is currently receiving treatment for injuries to her left hand and leg at a local hospital.

On Saturday, a 60-year-old female tea worker was attacked by a bear at a tea estate in Kothagiri, resulting in her hospitalization for treatment, according to official reports.

The bear, which had been concealed within the estate, suddenly attacked the worker as she was harvesting tea leaves. She sustained injuries to her left hand and left leg. She was promptly transported to a hospital in Kothagiri where she is currently receiving medical care. The worker has been identified as Devi, a migrant laborer from Nepal.

Forest officials visited her at the hospital, offering consolation and assuring her that the department would cover her medical expenses and provide appropriate compensation. Forest personnel are currently stationed in the tea estate area to locate the animal and guide it back into the deeper forest regions, officials stated.
