Police have launched an investigation into a shocking incident in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, where four women allegedly killed their 16-day-old nephew in what appears to be a ritualistic murder driven by superstition.
The women reportedly trampled the infant to death with their feet, believing this horrific act would improve their marriage prospects. According to authorities, these women had been eager to get married and resorted to this extreme ritual as a supposed solution.
A disturbing video circulating online shows one woman holding the infant in her lap while chanting, with other women joining in. Officials indicate the chants likely invoked Bheru, a local folk deity, as part of their ritual.
The devastated father identified the perpetrators as his sisters-in-law. In his statement, he demanded severe punishment for the murderers, expressing concern that "such videos are being created to help them evade legal consequences."
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that a thorough investigation into this tragic case is currently underway.
