Doctor-Turned-Terrorist: Umar Mohammad's Journey to Delhi Red Fort Bombing Revealed in CCTV Footage

CCTV footage reveals Umar Mohammad, a doctor from Al-Falah Medical College, disguised himself before conducting the deadly suicide car bombing near Delhi's Red Fort that killed 13 people. Authorities tracked his movements through approximately 50 locations across Delhi on the day of the attack, linking him to a larger Jaish-e-Mohammed terror cell recently exposed in Faridabad.

Umar Mohammad, the perpetrator of the suicide car bomb attack near Delhi's Red Fort, was captured on CCTV wearing doctor's attire. The footage was obtained from a shop in Haryana's Faridabad, the same location where authorities dismantled a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) linked terrorist cell consisting of professionals.

In the surveillance footage, Mohammad was seen carrying two mobile devices.

Mohammad operated the white Hyundai i20 that detonated near a traffic checkpoint in Old Delhi, resulting in 13 fatalities. Born in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir in 1989, he served as a physician at Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad, an institution now under scrutiny along with several other medical practitioners facing terrorism charges.

Using surveillance footage, authorities have reconstructed the entire route Mohammad traveled while driving to Delhi's Chandni Chowk on November 10. His identity was confirmed through DNA analysis.

Investigators continue seeking additional CCTV evidence to reconstruct the terror plot. While employed at Al Falah University, Mohammad purchased the i20 from a local dealership on October 29. He obtained emissions certification the same day before parking the vehicle for the subsequent 12 days.

The apprehension of doctors Mujammil Shakeel and Adil Rather, along with other suspects, led to the discovery of 2,900 kg of explosives in Faridabad. This development caused Mohammad to panic, prompting his escape from the city in the i20.

Fleeing Faridabad, Mohammad initially traveled to Firozpur Jhirka via Mewat in Haryana, then proceeded along the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. He spent the night at a roadside restaurant, sleeping in his vehicle. The following morning, he returned to Delhi. Surveillance cameras recorded him passing through the Badarpur toll at 8:13 am on Monday.

Mohammad appears in CCTV footage at approximately 50 different locations throughout Delhi, indicating he traversed the city from morning until 3 pm.

In Delhi, he was first detected in the eastern district. He subsequently traveled to Ring Road in the central district before heading to the northern district. He stopped in Ashok Vihar in the northwestern district, presumably to eat.

Sources indicate he then visited a mosque in the central district before ultimately arriving at a parking area near the Red Fort at 3:19 pm.
