Osama Shahab, son of deceased gangster-turned-politician Mohammad Shahabuddin who previously served multiple terms as MP from Siwan, has secured victory in Bihar's Raghunathpur assembly constituency.

According to the Election Commission website, RJD candidate Osama Shahab defeated his closest competitor, JD(U)'s Vikas Kumar Singh, with a margin of 9,248 votes. Shahab garnered 88,278 votes, while Singh received 79,030 votes.

Senior NDA leaders had publicly condemned the RJD's decision to field Osama Shahab in the assembly elections, claiming that his nomination signaled the potential "return of jungle raj" in the state.
