Arvind Kejriwal Celebrates AAP Victory in Tarn Taran Bypoll: "Punjab Chooses Politics of Work"

Aam Aadmi Party secured a significant victory in Punjab's Tarn Taran bypoll, with candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu winning by 12,091 votes. Party chief Arvind Kejriwal attributed the win to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's honest leadership and Punjab's preference for work-focused politics over alternatives offered by SAD, Congress, and BJP.

'Punjab Prefers Politics Of Work': Arvind Kejriwal On Tarn Taran Bypoll Win

Arvind Kejriwal has extended his congratulations to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) following their victory in the Tarn Taran bye-elections, emphasizing that Punjab residents favor "politics of work."

The AAP's candidate, Harmeet Singh Sandhu, secured the win with a substantial margin of 12,091 votes in the Tarn Taran bypolls. Sandhu, formerly associated with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), is a three-time MLA who switched parties.

Taking to social media platform X, Kejriwal praised Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's leadership while conveying his best wishes to the public and party workers.

"This historic victory in the Tarn Taran bye-election has clearly demonstrated that Punjab's people prefer politics of work and Bhagwant Mann ji's honest leadership. Punjab has once again shown its trust in AAP. This victory belongs to the people and every hardworking party worker. Heartiest congratulations to Punjab's people and all workers," Kejriwal wrote.

Shiromani Akali Dal candidate and Azad Group leader Sukhwinder Kaur received 30,558 votes, finishing behind Sandhu, who garnered 42,649 votes.

Congress candidate Karanbir Singh lost the election by 27,571 votes, while BJP's Harjit Singh Sandhu managed to secure only 6,239 votes.

The electoral contest featured a total of 15 candidates.

The seat became vacant following the death of sitting AAP MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal in June this year.

Bye-elections were conducted across eight seats in six States and one Union Territory.

In other results, BJP's Devyani Rana won the Nagrota seat in Jammu and Kashmir with a margin of 24,647 votes. In Mizoram's Dampa seat, Mizo National Front candidate R Lalthangliana secured victory with a margin of 562 votes.

In Rajasthan's Anta constituency, Congress candidate Pramod Jain defeated BJP's Morpal Suman by a margin of 15,612 votes.
