Independent candidate Jyoti Singh, wife of Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh, has fallen to third position in the Karakat Assembly constituency race, trailing by more than 50,000 votes as of 6 pm.
With 30 counting rounds completed and only one remaining, Jyoti Singh has garnered 23,398 votes, placing her 50,395 votes behind the frontrunner, Arung Singh of the CPI (M-L) Liberation party. JDU's Mahabali Singh holds second position, approximately 27,000 votes behind the leader.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, which includes Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JDU, is achieving a decisive victory in Bihar, securing over 200 seats in the 243-member assembly and leaving Opposition parties in disarray.
Karakat's significant electoral contest featured multiple prominent candidates including JDU's Mahabali Singh, CPI(ML)'s Arun Singh, and Jan Suraaj's Yogendra Singh.
Jyoti Singh's independent candidacy announcement followed a meeting with election strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor, though details of their discussion remained undisclosed.
Before the election, Jyoti Singh publicly accused her husband Pawan of infidelity, resulting in an open conflict over electoral candidacy.
Pawan Singh, previously removed from the BJP last year due to his controversial reputation, ultimately withdrew from the election, declaring himself a "true soldier" of the party.
The Karakat Assembly constituency voting took place on November 11, alongside other constituencies in Rohtas district including Chenari, Sasaram, Kargahar, Dinara, Nokha, and Dehri.
