AIMIM has been focusing its electoral strategy on the Seemanchal region to maintain its political relevance in Bihar.
As the 2025 Bihar election results unfold, AIMIM appears poised to deliver an extraordinary performance among opposition parties.
The party had achieved remarkable success in the previous election by securing five seats, all within the Seemanchal region. Current trends suggest they may exceed their previous accomplishment.
Seemanchal comprises four districts - Araria, Katihar, Kishanganj, and Purnea - containing 24 Assembly seats and housing a significant portion of Bihar's Muslim population. AIMIM strategically targeted this region to strengthen its political foothold. As of 3:50 pm Friday, the party is leading in six constituencies, while the Mahagathbandhan has declined from seven to merely two seats.
AIMIM is currently ahead in Kochadhaman and Bahadurganj constituencies in Kishanganj district, Amour and Baisi in Purnea, Jokihat in Araria - all previously won in 2020 - plus Thakurganj, another constituency in Kishanganj district.
What makes this electoral showing particularly impressive is that four of Asaduddin Owaisi's MLAs had defected to the RJD following the previous elections, with only Akhtarul Iman from Amour remaining loyal to the party. Iman is currently maintaining his lead.
In the 2020 election, the NDA secured 12 seats from Seemanchal while the Mahagathbandhan (MGB) won seven. Present trends indicate Seemanchal is following Bihar's broader electoral pattern. The NDA currently leads in 15 constituencies while the MGB is ahead in just one.
The BJP, which captured eight seats in the previous election, is maintaining its lead in eight constituencies, while the JDU appears set to increase its representation from four to five seats.
The Congress has declined from five seats to one, while both the CPI(ML) and the RJD have failed to secure any leads in the region.
