BJP Candidate, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary Leads From Bihar's Tarapur By 12,000 Votes

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, the BJP candidate from Tarapur constituency, has established a significant lead as vote counting continues in the Bihar Elections 2025. The veteran politician, currently serving as a Legislative Council member, is maintaining a substantial advantage over his closest competitors.

With 10 rounds of counting completed, Choudhary has pulled ahead of RJD's Arun Kumar by more than 12,000 votes. Jan Suraaj Party's Santosh Singh is also trailing in this electoral contest.

The Tarapur seat, previously held by JDU's Rajeev Kumar Singh, was allocated to the BJP as part of the NDA's strategic seat-sharing arrangement for these elections.

Choudhary, who represents an important OBC face for the BJP, served as the party's Bihar unit president from 2023 to 2024. His political experience includes a stint as Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council during the brief RJD-JDU coalition government in 2022.

Coming from a political lineage as the son of respected politician Shakuni Choudhary, Samrat Choudhary's political journey includes a notable transition from the RJD to the BJP in 2014. This move was significant as he led over a dozen MLAs in defecting from Lalu Yadav's party, causing a substantial split in the RJD.
