Nikunj Goswami orchestrated an attempt on his wife's life due to ongoing domestic disputes.

Surat:

A Gujarat man allegedly enlisted a friend to attempt the murder of his wife, a range forest officer, in Surat district, according to police statements released Thursday.

The victim, Sonal Solanki, sustained critical injuries after being shot in the head at point-blank range and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital, confirmed Surat (Rural) Superintendent of Police Rajesh Gadhiya.

"On November 6, Sonal Solanki was traveling by car to a village when accused Ishwarpuri Goswami shot her directly in the head as she brought her vehicle to a stop. The perpetrator immediately fled on a motorcycle. Following the shooting, her car crashed into a roadside tree," Gadhiya explained.

Initially, her injuries appeared to be from the car accident, but medical professionals discovered a bullet lodged in her head during surgery, prompting authorities to register an attempted murder case.

"Both Solanki's husband, Nikunj Goswami, and his accomplice initially fled to avoid arrest. We deployed seven teams comprising approximately 50 police officers to apprehend them. The suspects were finally taken into custody when they attempted to surrender before a court in Kathor on Wednesday," the officer told reporters.

According to officials, Nikunj Goswami's murder attempt stemmed from ongoing domestic conflicts. Previously, Solanki had filed a police complaint against her husband for installing a GPS tracking device on her vehicle to monitor her movements.

"Nikunj Goswami later admitted to involving his friend in the murder plot after conducting surveillance of the route his wife regularly traveled. Ishwargiri Goswami followed Solanki's vehicle, intercepted it at an isolated location, and forced her to stop," the police superintendent added.
