A devastating collision involving two trucks in Pune on Thursday resulted in a four-wheeler being crushed between them. The tragic accident claimed eight lives and left fifteen people injured.

Videos from the accident site at Pune's Navale Bridge area show one truck engulfed in flames, while photographs display the crushed remains of the car that was caught between the two heavy vehicles.

Fire brigades promptly responded to the emergency call and immediately initiated rescue and firefighting operations at the scene.

The collision caused a complete shutdown of traffic on the national highway, resulting in extensive congestion.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident.

This accident comes shortly after another incident where a truck carrying over 100 LPG cylinders overturned while navigating a sharp turn on the Thanjavur-Ariyalur highway in Tamil Nadu's Ariyalur district on Monday, causing a major fire and multiple explosions.

The truck was en route from an Indane Gas warehouse near Dindigul Road to deliver cylinders to a local dealer in Ariyalur when it approached a curve near a Pillaiyar temple. When a stray dog suddenly crossed the road, the driver, Kanagaraj, applied emergency brakes in an attempt to avoid hitting the animal, causing the truck to lose control and overturn into a roadside drainage ditch.

The impact caused a chain reaction as the tightly packed cylinders collided with each other, igniting a series of powerful explosions that sent flames shooting into the air.

Kanagaraj managed to escape from the vehicle and flee to safety even as the initial cylinders began exploding. Local residents rushed to assist him and called emergency services. He suffered multiple injuries and was subsequently admitted to the Ariyalur Government Medical College Hospital.
