A 38-year-old mother tragically ended her life after experiencing significant distress over her teenage son's excessive smartphone usage, according to police reports released Thursday.

The incident occurred Tuesday evening in the Raksa area of Jhansi, where Sheela Devi reportedly hanged herself in a room of their rented accommodation. Authorities stated that she had become increasingly concerned about her 13-year-old son's addiction to mobile games and television viewing habits.

Sheela, married to Ravindra Pratap Singh who works at a private banking institution, had repeatedly encouraged her son to reduce his screen time and concentrate on his academic pursuits. Police reported that despite her consistent pleas and attempts to intervene, the teenager continued his excessive engagement with electronic devices.

Emergency responders transported Sheela to a local medical facility where medical professionals pronounced her deceased upon arrival.

Station House Officer (SHO) Rupesh Kumar indicated that preliminary investigations suggest the mother's desperate action stemmed from her ongoing frustration regarding her son's uncontrolled mobile phone usage.

"The family has not submitted any formal complaint at this time. The deceased's body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and our investigation continues," Kumar stated.
