New Delhi:
Authorities have successfully reconstructed the movements of Dr. Umar Mohammad, also known as Dr. Umar un-Nabi, the perpetrator behind the devastating Red Fort explosion. According to sources, surveillance footage from numerous CCTV cameras revealed his extensive travels across Delhi prior to Monday evening's attack. Investigators have meticulously compiled these visual records to track his route after he departed from Faridabad.
Intelligence sources have confirmed Dr. Umar's connections to the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammad. DNA testing has verified that he was operating the i20 vehicle that exploded near the Red Fort, resulting in nine fatalities and approximately two dozen injuries in this shocking terrorist incident that has stunned the national capital.
Dr. Umar, employed at Al Falah University in Faridabad, purchased the i20 from a local dealer on October 29. After obtaining a pollution certificate that same day, he kept the vehicle parked for the subsequent 12 days.
The investigation gained momentum following the apprehension of two Kashmiri doctors, Dr. Mujammil Shakeel and Dr. Adil Rather, which led to the discovery of 2,900 kg of explosives in Faridabad. Sources indicate this development caused Dr. Umar to flee Faridabad in the i20, and it was after these arrests that he formulated the plan for the Red Fort attack.
His escape route first took him to Firozpur Jhirka via Mewat in Haryana before he accessed the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. He spent the night at a roadside eatery, sleeping in his vehicle. The following morning, he returned to Delhi, with surveillance cameras documenting his passage through the Badarpur toll at 8:13 am on Monday.
Security footage captured Dr. Umar at approximately 50 different locations throughout Delhi, indicating he traversed the city from morning until 3 pm. He was initially observed in the East district before proceeding to Ring Road in the Central district and then to the North district. He made a stop in Ashok Vihar in the North West district, presumably for a meal. Sources believe he subsequently visited a mosque in the Central district before arriving at the Red Fort parking area in the North District at 3:19 pm.
During his Delhi travels, the vehicle was also spotted in Connaught Place and Mayur Vihar before being parked at the Sunehri Masjid parking facility in Chandni Chowk. It remained there until 6:30 am, with reports indicating that Dr. Umar never left the vehicle.
The explosion tore through slow-moving traffic at approximately 6:52 pm near the Red Fort Metro Station.
