Eight individuals were stranded for approximately two hours in a malfunctioning swing suspended about 30 feet above the ground at the Bali Jatra festival in Cuttack, according to police reports on Wednesday night.

The emergency situation occurred around 11 pm when the ride unexpectedly stopped while in operation with visitors aboard, authorities stated.

All eight individuals, including one woman and two children, were eventually rescued through the use of a hydraulic lift, as confirmed by local police.

The Fire Service team's successful rescue operation was documented on video, showing their efforts to safely retrieve the stranded festival-goers during the Bali Jatra celebration in Cuttack, Odisha.

Family members reported that the trapped individuals experienced extreme fear while suspended above ground level for more than two hours.

Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo and additional senior officers supervised the rescue efforts while thousands of onlookers witnessed the bravery displayed by the Odisha Fire Service personnel.

"All the people trapped in the swing have been successfully rescued," the DCP confirmed in a statement.

Following their rescue, the eight individuals were transported to a hospital for medical evaluation to ensure they had not suffered any adverse effects from the ordeal.
