Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Lok Nayak Hospital on Wednesday to meet the victims of the explosion near the Red Fort. His visit came shortly after returning to the Capital from a two-day diplomatic trip to Bhutan.

Security measures were intensified around the hospital where all victims have been admitted in anticipation of the Prime Minister's arrival.

On social media, Modi posted: "Went to LNJP Hospital and met those injured during the blast in Delhi. Praying for everyone's quick recovery. Those behind the conspiracy will be brought to justice!"

The explosion occurred at approximately 6:50 PM on Monday in a slow-moving white Hyundai i20, devastating multiple vehicles near the historic Red Fort. The incident has claimed nine lives so far and left 20 people injured during the evening rush hour.

The blast happened hours after authorities arrested eight individuals, including three medical doctors, and seized 2,900 kg of explosives. Officials uncovered what they described as a "white collar" terror network involving Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind operating across Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

Among those detained were Dr. Muzammil Ganaie and Dr. Shaheen Sayeed, both affiliated with Al Falah University in Faridabad. Investigators recovered 360 kg of ammonium nitrate from this private institution, which is recognized by the University Grants Commission and located approximately 45 km from Delhi.

Dr. Umar Nabi, believed to have perished in the explosion, was allegedly driving the car that detonated near the Red Fort. He also had connections to Al Falah University.

According to sources, Ganaie and Umar had previously surveyed the Red Fort area before the explosion. They reportedly planned to target a crowded location during Diwali but failed to execute the attack. Intelligence sources indicate they were also preparing for an assault on Republic Day.

Investigators believe the Hyundai i20 contained ANFO, an explosive compound consisting of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil. The bomb was reportedly activated by a manually triggered detonator, suggesting it was a suicide attack.

Forensic experts have determined that high-grade explosives were used in the blast. One explosive sample collected from the site is reportedly more powerful than ammonium nitrate.
