Shooting Incident at Disha Patani's Residence - Fifth Suspect Injured in Police Confrontation
The fifth individual implicated in the shooting incident at actress Disha Patani's residence in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh last week has sustained injuries during a police encounter today. The confrontation occurred in the forested area under the jurisdiction of Shahi police station in Bareilly.
The suspect, identified as Ramniwas, also known as Deepak or Deepu (19), a resident of Bedkala village in Rajasthan, had a bounty of Rs 25,000 on his capture. Authorities believe he participated in surveillance of the actress's ancestral home before the incident.
Law enforcement officials have secured one pistol, four live ammunition rounds, and four empty cartridge casings from his possession. Additionally, a Splendor Plus motorcycle without registration plates was confiscated from the accused.
Surveillance footage captured two individuals discharging firearms into the air near the Bollywood actress's residence on September 12, at approximately 3:45 am. Both perpetrators were subsequently neutralized during a police confrontation in Ghaziabad on Wednesday.
Shortly following the shooting, an individual affiliated with the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar criminal organization claimed responsibility for the incident, attributing it to alleged disrespectful comments made by Khushboo Patani, Disha's sister, towards spiritual leaders Sant Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya.
Wednesday's encounter was executed through collaborative efforts of the Delhi Police, Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF), and the Haryana Special Task Force (STF).
Earlier today, the Delhi Police Special Cell took two juveniles into custody in connection with the investigation.
Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General (ADG) of Law and Order, Amitabh Yash, stated that the shooting incident was "interpreted as a challenge" by the UP Police.
In his statement to ANI, he emphasized that the incident challenged the UP Police's zero-tolerance approach to criminal activity. "Such incidents disrupt public order and create fear among citizens, directly undermining the zero-tolerance policy maintained by the UP Police and the UP Chief Minister. We viewed this incident as a challenge," the UP ADG remarked.
