Police apprehended the juvenile from Sanjay Lake Garden area.
New Delhi:
A 16-year-old adolescent under the influence of marijuana was apprehended for allegedly stabbing a man in east Delhi's Pandav Nagar after the victim refused to provide him with a 'bidi', according to police statements released Tuesday.
The incident was discovered Monday morning when an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) team observed a group of dogs gathered near bushes along Noida Link Road.
Upon investigation, officers discovered a man lying unconscious with multiple stab wounds to his abdomen and chest, police reported.
The victim, later identified as Krishna Sahani, a Delhi resident, was immediately transported to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where prompt medical intervention successfully saved his life.
After regaining consciousness, Sahani informed authorities that a young boy had attacked him following his refusal to give the youth a bidi.
"In a moment of extreme anger, the juvenile repeatedly stabbed him and abandoned him in the bushes before leaving the scene," a police officer stated.
Law enforcement officers later apprehended the teenager at Sanjay Lake Garden, where he was found sleeping.
A blood-stained knife, allegedly used in the assault, was discovered in his possession, according to the officer. During interrogation, the boy disclosed that he had dropped out of school after class 8 and regularly used drugs.
"He was under the influence of marijuana at the time of the incident. Following an argument with Sahani, he retrieved a knife from his residence and attacked him with homicidal intent," the officer explained.
