Dixit currently holds the position of joint secretary in the finance department.
Jaipur:
A formal complaint has been registered by IAS officer Bharti Dixit against her husband, IAS officer Ashish Modi, alleging sustained domestic violence, physical abuse, unlawful confinement, and death threats directed at her and her family members.
Both officers belong to the 2014 batch of the Rajasthan cadre. While Dixit serves as joint secretary in the finance department, Modi works as director in the social justice and empowerment department.
When approached for comment, Modi declined to discuss the matter.
"I would prefer not to comment as the case is under investigation. I will fully cooperate with investigators, and it should be noted that I was in Bihar from November 4th to 7th, 2025, when the FIR was filed," Modi stated.
According to Dixit, Modi pressured her into marriage in 2014 by taking advantage of her emotional state during her father's cancer treatment. She claims he misrepresented personal information and subsequently subjected her to persistent physical and psychological abuse.
The FIR lodged at SMS Hospital police station in Jaipur on November 7 states that Modi regularly consumed alcohol, maintained connections with criminal elements, and physically assaulted her when she questioned his conduct.
Dixit reported that the violence escalated following their daughter's birth in 2018. She was allegedly forced to temporarily leave Jaipur due to the abuse but returned after completing her maternity leave.
She further alleged that in October 2025, Modi and an associate abducted her using a government vehicle, confined her for several hours, and threatened to kill her and her family if she refused to agree to divorce proceedings. She claims she was held at gunpoint and forced to mislead her father during a phone conversation.
Additionally, Dixit accused Modi of installing a concealed spy camera in her room and illegally connecting her mobile phone to other devices to access confidential government documents. She alleges that Modi abused his position as an IAS officer and misused official resources for personal and criminal activities.
The complaint identifies two associates, Surendra Vishnoi and Ashish Sharma, whom she accuses of assisting Modi in making threats and carrying out the illegal confinement.
Dixit has requested immediate police protection for herself and her family members.
A police representative confirmed that the case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with provisions of the Information Technology (IT) Act.
