Mumbai Drug Queen 'Pagli' Jailed For Smuggling Mephedrone

The notorious drug trafficker Roma Arif Shaikh, commonly known as 'Pagli', aged 37, was apprehended and incarcerated for a one-year term on Tuesday by Mumbai's Anti-Narcotics Cell for trafficking mephedrone (MD).

Investigations uncovered that Roma, who is already implicated in eight cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, functions as the principal orchestrator of a drug distribution network operating throughout Mumbai.

Previously, the Byculla police had implemented preventive measures against her under Section 110 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Despite these efforts, Roma immediately resumed her illicit drug activities following her release.

In response to her continued criminal behavior, the Anti-Narcotics Cell prepared a comprehensive report against Roma under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988 (PIT-NDPS). This report was subsequently submitted to the Maharashtra State Home Department through Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti.

After receiving approval for the report, authorities served Roma with a detention order on Tuesday, resulting in her confinement at Maharashtra's Kolhapur Jail.
