BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal, representing Delhi's Chandi Chowk constituency where Monday's fatal blast claimed nine lives, has firmly stated that "no one responsible will be spared."
The devastating explosion occurred at approximately 6:52 pm outside Gate number 1 of the Red Fort metro station, sending shockwaves through one of Delhi's most crowded commercial and tourist districts. Following forensic evidence and intelligence reports, Delhi Police have implemented sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
In his interview with NDTV, Khandelwal confirmed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assumed direct oversight of the situation. "All security agencies, including Delhi Police, are on high alert and investigating the cause," Khandelwal explained. "Union Home Minister Amit Shah is personally monitoring every development. No one responsible for this heinous act will be spared."
The MP expressed his sympathies to affected families and called for public composure. "I deeply mourn the loss of lives and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. I appeal to citizens not to believe or spread rumours," he emphasized. "The culprits will be punished under the strictest provisions of law."
Regarding compensation for victims, Khandelwal indicated that announcements would follow the completion of investigation reports. "Since Amit Shah is directly involved, I can assure everyone that whatever best the government can do, will be done," he stated.
Delhi Police are collaborating with central agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Intelligence Bureau, to analyze CCTV footage and collect forensic evidence from the blast site.
The explosion's proximity to major commercial areas has raised concerns among local businesses. Khandelwal, who maintains close ties with several trade organizations, clarified that only Lajpat Rai Market has been temporarily closed for investigative purposes. "I've spoken to trade associations, and they're cooperating fully with the authorities," he noted. "Traders understand this is a matter of national security and sovereignty."
When questioned about potential political implications for the ongoing Bihar elections, Khandelwal firmly dismissed such connections. "This is a national security issue, not a political one," he asserted. "There is absolutely no connection between this incident and any state polls."
