13 Dead in Red Fort Metro Station Blast: PM Modi Reviews Situation with Home Minister Amit Shah

A devastating blast outside Delhi's Red Fort metro station has claimed 13 lives and injured at least 24 others. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences and confirmed he's monitoring the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah. The high-intensity explosion occurred in a Hyundai I20 at 6:52 PM, prompting NIA and NSG investigations and putting multiple states on high alert.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been briefed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the blast. The Delhi Police Commissioner and leaders of the NIA and Intelligence Bureau (IB) are continuously updating the Home Minister about the situation, according to government sources.

The powerful explosion tore through a car carrying passengers near Delhi's iconic Red Fort. The blast occurred in a Hyundai I20 car at 6.52 pm, leaving vehicles damaged and shattered glass scattered throughout the area.

India's premier terror investigation agency, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the National Security Guard have joined the investigation efforts.

Bihar, Punjab, Maharashtra, Kolkata, Jaipur, Haryana, Hyderabad, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand have been placed on high alert.

The explosion happened on the same day that a massive collection of 2,900 kg of explosives was discovered just 50 km from the capital, in neighboring Faridabad in Haryana.

"Within 10 minutes of receiving information about the blast, teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch arrived at the location. The NSG and NIA teams, along with the FSL, have now begun a comprehensive investigation. Orders have been given to examine all nearby CCTV cameras," Shah said.

"We are exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation, considering all scenarios. All options will be investigated immediately and we will present the findings to the public. I will be visiting the site shortly and will also visit the hospital immediately," he added.
