Man Enters Woman's Room In Bengaluru, Stabs, Tries To Sexually Assault Her
The perpetrator was identified as Saibabu Chennuru
Bengaluru:
Authorities have detained a man at a co-living paying guest accommodation in Bengaluru for allegedly intruding into a 24-year-old woman's room and attempting sexual assault.
According to the police complaint reviewed by NDTV, the suspect, Saibabu Chennuru, who had recently established a friendship with the victim, a bank employee, forcibly entered her room around 3 am. He stabbed her in the back with a knife, captured inappropriate photographs, and attempted to force her into sexual activity, threatening her life if she refused to comply.
The complaint further states that he demanded Rs 70,000, transferred Rs 14,000 from her mobile phone to his account, and threatened to distribute her photos if she revealed the incident to anyone.
This incident follows a similar case from weeks earlier where an unidentified individual broke into a women's paying guest facility in Bengaluru and allegedly sexually harassed a 23-year-old woman before stealing cash.
The earlier incident, occurring on August 29, was recorded by CCTV cameras.
Police reported that the woman was asleep when the intruder arrived. He locked all rooms on the floor from outside before entering her room.
According to police, the man inappropriately touched her while she slept. When she resisted, he threatened her with a knife, scratched her legs with his fingernails, and assaulted her.
He then took Rs 2,500 cash from her cupboard before escaping.
Two days following the incident, police apprehended the suspect, Naresh Pattam, 30, using CCTV footage evidence.
A native of Madanapalle in Andhra Pradesh, he worked as a bike-taxi driver. Police indicated he came to Bengaluru after being released on bail for two robbery cases in his hometown in 2021.
