Bengaluru:
A controversial situation has emerged after a viral video allegedly showing Muslims offering 'namaz' at Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport sparked political debate. The opposition BJP has expressed strong concerns about the incident and is demanding answers from the state government.
In the footage, security personnel can be seen monitoring the prayer activities.
BJP Karnataka spokesperson Vijay Prasad has directly questioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Minister Priyank Kharge regarding whether the individuals praying in this public space had secured the necessary permissions as required by recent state regulations.
"How is this even allowed inside the T2 Terminal of Bengaluru International Airport? Hon'ble Chief Minister @siddaramaiah and Minister @PriyankKharge do you approve of this?" Prasad stated in his social media post on 'X' late Saturday.
"Did these individuals obtain prior permission to offer Namaz in a high-security airport zone?" Referencing regulations that the BJP claims were established to limit RSS activities within the state, Prasad questioned, "Why is it that the government objects when the RSS conducts Patha Sanchalana (route march) after obtaining due permission from the concerned authorities, but turns a blind eye to such activities in a restricted public area?"
The BJP spokesperson has raised concerns about potential security implications in such a sensitive location.
