Udhayanidhi Stalin Criticizes Actor Vijay's Political Entry: Ideological Showdown in Tamil Nadu Politics

Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has launched a veiled critique of actor-politician Vijay, suggesting that certain individuals are entering the political arena without ideological foundations or solid groundwork.

During the DMK's Platinum Jubilee celebration, Stalin emphasized, "Ideology forms the cornerstone of DMK. A strong foundation ensures the fortress built upon it remains unshakable. Currently, some are attempting to venture into politics without any foundation," in what appeared to be a reference to Vijay, who leads the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

With evident sarcasm, he drew parallels between Vijay's TVK and exhibition models of famous landmarks.

"At exhibitions, we encounter replica models of the Taj Mahal and Eiffel Tower. Visitors become excited, capture selfies, and experience a thrill. However, these are merely cardboard constructions lacking foundation or ideology. A gentle touch or breeze is sufficient to topple them," he remarked.

He further highlighted that the DMK was established through sacrifice and struggle, noting that both the party and its leadership had endured even during the Emergency period.

TVK responded sharply, challenging Stalin's own political credentials.

"Udhayanidhi Stalin claims DMK was built through sacrifice and struggle. Yet what contribution has he made to that movement? What protests has he faced personally? What sacrifices has he undertaken? On what grounds was he awarded the youth wing position and election candidacy?" TVK spokesperson Loyola Mani posted on X.

"Explain what qualifications you possess beyond being former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's grandson and (MK) Stalin's son," he questioned.

He asserted that TVK will overcome the ruling DMK in the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections.
