"Congress Created Telangana...": Revanth Reddy Ahead Of Jubilee Hills Bypoll

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy delivered a powerful critique of the former Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) administration on Sunday, asserting that genuine development and welfare initiatives in Telangana have only materialized under Congress leadership, while BRS governance resulted in massive debt accumulation and developmental regression.

Speaking at a 'Meet the Press' event in Hyderabad, Reddy confidently proclaimed that the "People's Government" has reinvigorated Telangana's development trajectory and predicted Congress would maintain governance until 2034.

Chief Minister Reddy began by attributing Telangana's formation and advancement to Congress leadership. He emphasized how Sonia Gandhi delivered on her statehood commitment despite significant political opposition, stating, "The Congress party created Telangana, and now it is rebuilding it."

He emphasized significant Congress contributions including the Rs 73,000 crore loan waiver implemented by former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and the Jalayagnam irrigation initiative. Water security projects like Kalwakurthy, Bima, and Mid Manair were highlighted as key achievements during Congress governance.

Reddy underscored that Hyderabad's current prominence as a global IT and knowledge hub stemmed from Congress policies, pointing out that approximately 70% of Fortune 500 companies' Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are headquartered in the city.

The Chief Minister then sharply criticized former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) for alleged financial mismanagement.

"When KCR assumed office, Telangana possessed a Rs 60,000 crore surplus, but his administration left behind a staggering debt burden of Rs 8.11 lakh crore," Reddy asserted.

He charged the BRS with squandering Rs 1.85 lakh crore on irrigation projects, including Rs 1 lakh crore on the Kaleshwaram project, which allegedly "failed to irrigate even a single acre." He noted Telangana achieved the top position in paddy production without this project, dismissing BRS's ambitious claims as unfounded.

Reddy compared KCR to a "blind-eyed Dhritarashtra" who ignored public suffering. He accused the BRS administration of neglecting essential sectors including education and healthcare, citing the closure of 5,000 schools, vacant vice-chancellor positions at universities, and the deterioration of Osmania Hospital.

Addressing the BJP, Chief Minister Reddy claimed that Union Minister G Kishan Reddy is "acting like a Gujarat Gulam" by failing to advocate for Telangana's interests. He further alleged that KTR collaborated with Kishan Reddy to impede state development.

"The public recognizes who strengthened agriculture and who promoted pub culture," the Chief Minister remarked, additionally accusing BRS leaders of preferring to "hang out with film stars over helping film workers."

Chief Minister Reddy highlighted his administration's welfare commitment and reform agenda, enumerating key accomplishments achieved in a brief timeframe, including completion of a Rs 21,000 crore farm loan waiver, disbursement of Rs 9,000 crore for Rythu Bharosa within nine days, and allocation of Rs 7,100 crore for free RTC bus services.

He credited his government for increasing the Rajiv Aarogyasri limit to Rs 10 lakh and initiating the Rs 3,000-crore Osmania Hospital redevelopment project. He also emphasized that Telangana had become the pioneer state to conduct a BC caste census and implement SC classification.

He outlined his administration's future initiatives including establishing a Young India Skills University, Police School, and Young India Residential Schools, alongside plans to bring 20 TMC of Godavari water to Hyderabad.

The Chief Minister urged Jubilee Hills constituency voters to support Congress candidate Naveen Yadav in the upcoming by-election to "strengthen the hands of the People's Government and accelerate the city's progress."

He concluded with a resolute declaration: "The People's Government belongs to the people. Congress created Telangana, and Congress will continue to develop it for the next decade."
