In Madhya Pradesh's Damoh district, at least 40 individuals have suffered from stray dog attacks over a 48-hour period, with officials reporting that just two canines were responsible for 35 of these incidents.
According to Dr. Ashok Badoniya, the block medical officer at Patera primary health centre, they treated 25 dog bite cases between Friday and Saturday. All these victims were apparently attacked by the same dog.
Dr. BM Pant, block medical officer at Batiyagarh, reported that a single stray dog was responsible for biting 10 persons in that area.
Officials confirmed that an additional five people received treatment at Damoh's district hospital after being bitten by stray dogs within the city limits.
District Collector Sudhir Kumar Kochar informed PTI that he has instructed district officials to "take immediate steps to catch stray dogs" following these incidents.
The Supreme Court addressed this growing concern on Friday, noting an "alarming rise" in dog bite incidents occurring in institutional areas including educational centers, hospitals, bus stands, and railway stations. The Court has directed authorities to relocate such canines to designated shelters.
