UP Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Beheading Wife and Displaying Severed Head in Village

A local court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife last year. Following the brutal killing, the convicted individual was seen walking through the village carrying his wife's decapitated head.

Besides the life term, the court has also ordered the convict to pay a fine of Rs 25,000.

District Government Counsel (Criminal) Amit Awasthi confirmed that Sessions Judge Pratima Srivastava delivered the judgment on Friday.

The crime occurred in Bhooliganj village within the jurisdiction of the Masouli police station.

According to official reports, on February 16 of the previous year, Lal Bahadur filed a complaint at Fatehpur police station stating that Anil Kumar from Basara village had murdered his daughter by cutting her throat with a cleaver. Following the murder, Anil Kumar was witnessed wandering through the village while carrying both the victim's head and the murder weapon.

The deceased woman and the convict had two children together.

"The complainant stated that Anil Kumar regularly subjected Vandana to harassment, making various allegations against her," added the counsel.
