A 24-year-old mentally challenged man has breached security at TVK chief Vijay's residence in Chennai's Neelankarai area along East Coast Road. The intruder, identified as Arun, was discovered on the terrace of the actor-politician's bungalow before being apprehended by police.
Speaking to NDTV, a senior police officer confirmed: "We have secured the man, found him to be mentally challenged and have admitted him to a mental home." An investigation is currently underway to determine how the individual managed to enter the premises despite Vijay's high-security protection detail.
The incident raises questions about potential security protocol lapses, as Vijay has been granted Y-category security with CRPF protection by the Home Ministry, reflecting his significant political profile and substantial public following.
This security breach occurred just days after Vijay launched his statewide political tour in Trichy last Saturday, an event that attracted tens of thousands of supporters and brought the city to a standstill. The TVK leader is scheduled to continue his campaign with a visit to Nagapattinam tomorrow.
TVK has not yet issued any statement regarding the security incident.
