Punjab Police Dismantle Pakistan-Backed Methamphetamine Trafficking Network in Amritsar

The Punjab Police have successfully dismantled two Pakistan-backed drug trafficking operations in Amritsar, resulting in the arrest of two key operatives involved in methamphetamine smuggling. Following intelligence reports, authorities seized 2.8 kilograms of methamphetamine from the suspects.

Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav identified the arrested individuals as Gursevak Singh, also known as Sevak, and Baljit Singh. Initial investigations revealed that both men maintained direct communication with Pakistan-based handlers through virtual channels.

The accused utilized online platforms to coordinate the collection and distribution of narcotics shipments within Punjab. They strategically chose delivery locations near religious sites to evade detection and minimize suspicion.

DGP Yadav stated that investigations are ongoing to identify the complete supply chain, locate additional operatives, and map the entire network's connections.

Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar provided details of the operations, explaining that the first arrest occurred at a checkpoint near Dana Mandi. Police intercepted Gursevak Singh and recovered 40 grams of methamphetamine from him. His subsequent interrogation led authorities to discover an additional 1.96 kilograms of the substance.

In the second case, police established a checkpoint near Ryan International School on Vallah Bypass Road, where they apprehended Baljit Singh carrying 45 grams of methamphetamine. Further investigation following his arrest resulted in the recovery of 770 additional grams of the drug.

Commissioner Bhullar confirmed that both suspects were operating as ground couriers for Pakistan-based handlers, actively facilitating drug movement throughout Punjab.

Authorities have registered two First Information Reports (FIRs) under Section-21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Police officials stated that the investigation continues as they work to identify cross-border handlers, map supply routes, and completely dismantle the trafficking network.
