The deceased, identified as Deepak Pradhan, had engaged in a verbal dispute with the tractor driver over the illegal extraction of sand, as stated by authorities.

"Pradhan was intoxicated and attempted to climb onto the tractor when the driver, in a moment of anger, started the vehicle. Unfortunately, Pradhan fell and was crushed under the tractor, resulting in his death," explained Avinash Hembrom, who serves as the officer-in-charge at Jagannathpur police station.

Following the incident, local residents expressed their outrage by placing Pradhan's body on the road in protest.

"We successfully calmed the villagers and arranged for the body to be transported to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. The tractor has been confiscated and the driver arrested. Our efforts to apprehend the owner of the vehicle are ongoing," Hembrom added.
