BJP To Launch Trust-Building Muslim Outreach Programme In Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram:

The BJP in Kerala announced on Friday it will initiate a programme to reach out to the Muslim community in the state. The party clarified that this initiative is "not political or for getting votes" but rather a "trust-building" effort.

State BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar made the announcement of the 'Muslim Outreach Programme' here, stating it would be implemented under the leadership of senior party leader and state vice president Abdul Salam.

Chandrasekhar emphasized that the programme's purpose was not to secure votes but to "demolish the lies" about BJP being against the Muslim community in Kerala and unwilling to work for them.

He alleged that such falsehoods have been circulated among Kerala's Muslim community over the past 20-25 years.

The BJP state chief recalled that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office in 2014, he had declared the Constitution as his "guiding document" and promised to work for all citizens.

"Sabka saath, sabka vikaas is what he said," Chandrasekhar highlighted.

He indicated that the BJP in Kerala aims to convey the same message to the Muslim community in the state.

"We are here to serve you. We will serve every Malayali in their time of need. Whatever they need, we are here to serve them, irrespective of their caste, creed, community or religion," he stated during a press conference here.

Chandrasekhar further explained that BJP's mission was to establish a 'Vikasit Keralam' where all individuals, regardless of caste, community, or religion, "gets equal opportunities for development, jobs and progress in their lives".

"So, this is not about votes; it is about building trust and demolishing the elaborate house of lies that has been created by the CPI(M) and Congress," he asserted.

Explaining the programme's details, he mentioned that teams of BJP workers would visit every Muslim household and distribute leaflets conveying the party's development message and "advising them not to be taken in by the lies and propaganda of the Congress and the Left, who have done nothing for them in the last 70 years".

Chandrasekhar claimed that in the past 11 years, the Narendra Modi government at the Centre "has done more for the Muslim community in the country than any other previous governments in Indian history".

"We hope to do the same in Kerala," he added.

The outreach programme was announced just before the upcoming local body polls in the state.
