Police have detained a self-proclaimed godwoman and two accomplices in Pune for allegedly defrauding an IT professional of Rs 14 crore by promising to cure his daughters' health problems using her claimed "spiritual powers," authorities announced on Friday.

Software engineer Dipak Dolas recently filed a complaint with Pune police alleging he had been deceived by the godwoman who professed to have supernatural healing abilities.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated, "A cheating case was registered at Kothrud Police station before being transferred to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). Three individuals were detained in Nashik, and arrest procedures are currently underway." Police confirmed the self-styled healer was among those detained but provided no additional information.

According to the complaint, the godwoman assured the family she could heal his daughters through "divine intervention" techniques.

She allegedly convinced them to liquidate their properties, including their house in the United Kingdom where the techie had previously worked, real estate in Pune, and agricultural land in their native village.

Over time, Dolas transferred approximately Rs 14 crore to the woman, the complaint stated.

He claimed that despite paying the substantial sum, his daughters' health conditions showed no improvement, which ultimately led him to contact the police.
